The short answer: Yeongjong-gu Office is at 201 Haneuljungang-ro (하늘중앙로 201), but the right office depends on the paperwork. Ordinary district services and land or building matters do not always go to the same authority. Check the service before travelling, rather than searching for the old Jung-gu office.

When I put together the Korean living-information guide after the July 2026 district reorganisation, the confusing part was not the new name. It was which responsibilities moved to Yeongjong-gu and which stayed with the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, or IFEZ. This English guide keeps that distinction at the centre. Official pages rechecked September 19, 2026.

What address should you put into your map app?

인천광역시 영종구 하늘중앙로 201
Yeongjong-gu Office, 201 Haneuljungang-ro, Yeongjong-gu, Incheon.
The Korean guide identifies the temporary offices in Hanbit Plaza. Use 영종구청 as the destination name and 032-760-7114 as the main contact number.

The district website now uses yeongjong.go.kr. An old document headed 인천광역시 중구 may predate the reorganisation; do not use that heading alone to decide which office to visit. In particular, this guide is about services on the island, not the mainland office in Jemulpo-gu.

Which authority handles your task?

TaskFirst place to ask
Resident certificates, family registration, local taxes or welfareYeongjong-gu or your local administrative welfare centre
Vehicle registrationYeongjong-gu vehicle registration team
Building or land matters inside the free economic zoneIFEZ: ask about the exact address and procedure
Building or land matters outside that zoneYeongjong-gu: confirm jurisdiction for the property
Jurisdiction matters more than the word “Yeongjong” in the address.

Do not shorten the rule to “all building permits go to IFEZ.” The district has its own building-permit responsibilities too: its current department listing includes work in Eulwang-dong and Muuido. Give the officer the property address and the name of the document or permit you need.

When is your neighbourhood centre the better starting point?

For everyday resident paperwork, your administrative welfare centre (행정복지센터) may be the useful first contact. The Korean guide lists 영종1동 at 하늘달빛로 120, 운서1동 at 흰바위로27번길 10, and 운서2동 at 영종대로 173. These are separate destinations, not alternate entrances to the district office.

This also matters for bridge toll support. The city directs foreign-owned vehicle applications to a centre because its online registration system cannot automatically review them. Bring the name of the programme, not just a request for a general “transport discount”: bridge support and the public-transport refund programme are different.

What should you check before leaving home?

Ask which department handles the task, whether an in-person visit is required, and what documents apply to your status. A self-service certificate machine is not a substitute for a staffed counter when the document or identity verification is unsupported. Likewise, the district office is not automatically the right destination for immigration paperwork simply because you live nearby.

Frequently asked questions

Is Yeongjong-gu the old Jung-gu? The island areas became Yeongjong-gu in the July 2026 reorganisation. Old Jung-gu references can refer to a different administrative arrangement.

Can I assume every local service is at Haneuljungang-ro 201? No. Neighbourhood centres, the health centre and IFEZ have separate roles and locations.

Where can I ask if I cannot identify the department? Start with the district main number, 032-760-7114, and describe the task and address. Do not assume an English-speaking officer is always available.
