The short answer: a local free-vaccination programme and the national flu programme are not the same service. First identify the vaccine and eligibility rules, then choose a participating clinic or the health centre. Do not assume that every resident qualifies or that every weekday is a vaccination day.
This guide reorganises my Korean 생활정보 post around the trip you need to make: who to contact, which documents to bring and when the relevant programme starts. The district vaccination page and KDCA’s seasonal flu schedule were checked on September 19, 2026. The clinician should confirm your vaccination history and individual suitability; this page does not prescribe a vaccine or dose schedule.
What is different about local support?
| Programme | Eligibility detail to check | Documents in district guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Local shingles support | Korean nationals aged 65+, at least one year of registered local residence, no previous shingles vaccination | ID plus 주민등록초본 issued within one month |
| Pneumococcal programme | Age 65+; clinic checks vaccination history | ID |
| Local pertussis support | Specified pregnant/postpartum residents and spouses; district page specifies Korean nationals | ID, recent household record and pregnancy/birth or relationship evidence as applicable |
| Paid hepatitis B service | Eligible local residents aged 11+ or local workers without antibodies | ID, negative antibody test; employment evidence where applicable |
The nationality wording matters for English-speaking readers. The current district page explicitly says 내국인 for its local shingles and pertussis support. Living on Yeongjong does not remove that condition. If you are a foreign resident, ask about your actual eligibility and available paid or national-programme options rather than arriving expecting these two local benefits.
For shingles, the residence-history document is 주민등록초본, not simply any certificate containing an address. The one-month issue-date rule is another reason to check your documents before travelling. For hepatitis B, the source and district page list a paid service rather than a free one: ₩7,700 per dose, with a different dialysis-patient fee. Let the clinic determine whether the service applies to you.
When does the 2026–27 national flu programme start?
| Group | Start date |
|---|---|
| Eligible children aged 6 months–14 years | September 21, 2026 |
| Pregnant women | September 21, 2026 |
| Age 75+ | October 6, 2026 |
| Age 70–74 | October 12, 2026 |
| Age 65–69 | October 15, 2026 |
KDCA says eligible recipients can use participating providers regardless of their address. That is different from the one-year local-residence condition in the shingles programme. It still does not mean any clinic has stock or participates: use 예방접종도우미 at nip.kdca.go.kr to find a provider, then telephone before going.
Where is the health centre and when is its vaccination room open?
The Korean guide gives 영종구보건소, 인천 영종구 운남서로 100. Do not navigate to the district-office address at Haneuljungang-ro 201. The vaccination-room contact on the current district page is 032-760-6045.
The vaccination room lists Monday and Friday 09:00–18:00, and Wednesday 09:00–12:00, with a 12:00–13:00 lunch break. Tuesday and Thursday are not listed as routine vaccination-room sessions. These are vaccination-room hours, not a statement that every health-centre service is closed on other weekdays.
What should you say when you call?
Name the vaccine, give your age and explain whether you are asking about local support or a national programme. Ask whether the clinic participates, has stock and needs an appointment. Then check the documents for your nationality, residence and vaccination history. This is more useful than asking only “Are vaccinations free?”
Frequently asked questions
Can I take this table as proof I qualify? No. The provider checks the programme conditions and your history before vaccination.
Must national flu vaccination be at Yeongjong’s health centre? No. KDCA lists participating providers nationwide. Confirm the particular provider before visiting.
Where can I ask about national programme details? Contact the provider or KDCA’s 1339 call centre. Use 032-760-6045 for the local vaccination room.
